The Boat

The Charles Henry Ashley is a 38ft Watson Class pulling and sailing RNLI lifeboat that was built in 1907 at the Thames Ironworks on Bow Creek, London. She was stationed at Porth Yr Ogof, Wylfa Head until she was taken out of service in 1932.

After several years in private ownership she was rescued from imminent destruction and re-launched after total restoration in 2009. Now a group of dedicated enthusiasts maintain and sail the vessel from its mooring in Cemaes Harbour. Membership of Cemaes Boat Club is open to anyone wishing to share the experience of sailing and rowing this unique boat.
